BASIC JEWELLERY CARE

Avoid wearing your jewellery while in contact with household cleaning detergents such as chlorine bleach or insecticides, as they may discolor or damage your jewellery mountings.

Take caution in various rough activities while wearing your jewellery such as: Sports activities, housework, gardening, swimming pools and going on the beach.  This is to avoid damaging knocks and scratches towards your jewellery.

Make sure that you do not place your jewellery too close to sources of intense heat: cooking stoves, ovens, microwaves, x-rays or radioactivity.

When you are not wearing your jewellery, be sure that the pieces do not stumble against each other to avoid scratching or dulling of the pieces. Ideally, store each piece in its own individual soft cloth pouch or Gems Pavilion’s jewellery box.

DIAMOND JEWELLERY CARE

Take your Diamond Jewellery off while putting on body lotion, cosmetics, perfume or hairspray as these matters may clog or cause dullness towards your jewellery piece.

To clean your Diamond piece: soak the piece is warm water with a few drops of mild soap for about 20 minutes. Use a soft brush to gently scrub the piece, scrubbing in between the gaps of the stone and its setting. Make sure not place too much pressure on the piece as this may cause scratches towards the gold surface or loosen the stone. Rinse thoroughly with clean water, and pat it dry with a soft cloth.

Ultrasonic Cleaners must be used with caution as the sound waves from the ultrasonic machine may cause further damage to the Diamond and may loosen the setting. Please note that coloured Diamonds should not be cleaned in this manner as it may a cause a change in the hue.

Gems Pavilion highly recommends you to professionally clean your Diamond jewellery every six months. To annually check the wear or damage towards to stone or its setting. This will help to keep your Jewellery in its perfect condition for life time usage.

EMERALD JEWELLERY CARE

Emeralds are relatively fair-good toughness, but they are more fragile than Rubies, Sapphires or Diamonds. Which means that Emerald jewellery pieces require more attention and caution while being worn than other precious gems stone jewellery. Emeralds can chip or crack when they are knocked on hard surfaces, avoid rough activities while wearing Emeralds.

Apply makeup, body lotion, cosmetics, perfume or hairspray before putting on your Emerald Jewellery.

The safest way to clean your emerald jewellery: leave the pieces overnight in a bowl of room temperature water and mild soap. The following day, use a soft brush to ‘gently’ brush the underside of the pieces to loosen dirt or grease then rinse the piece thoroughly with warm water. Never use solvent cleaners like acetone.

Do not use ultrasonic or steam cleaning machines as this may cause further damage to the Emerald’s fractures.

SAPPHIRE & RUBY JEWELLERY CARE

While Sapphires and Rubies have excellent toughness and no cleavage, yet it has is a tendency to break when strongly stuck on hard surface.

Apply makeup, body lotion, cosmetics, perfume or hairspray before putting on your Jewellery.

The safest way to clean your Sapphire and Ruby soak the piece is warm water with a few drops of mild soap for about 20 minutes.  Use a soft brush to gently scrub the piece, scrubbing in between the gaps of the stone and its setting to loosen the dirt and grease.  Make sure not place too much pressure on the piece as this may cause scratches towards the gold surface or loosen the stone.  Rinse thoroughly with clean water, and pat it dry with a soft cloth.

Ultrasonic and steam cleaners are usually safe for untreated, heat treated Stones while used with caution.

PEARL JEWELLERY CARE

● Pearls are organic and grown by nature from living cells of a living creature. Pearls are rather fragile which means that they require gentle care in order for them to maintain their luster for a very long time.

The best way to help your pearls maintain their great luster is to wear them regularly.  Your body’s natural oils moisture and aids the pearls in maintaining their beauty.

Pearls should be worn alone, as they may be scratched by other jewellery such as gold chains, other necklaces or stone settings.

Apply makeup, body lotion, cosmetics, perfume or hairspray before putting on your Jewellery.

Always wipe your pearls after wearing them by using a clean soft cloth.

Never clean your pearl jewellery with soap, detergent, jewellery cleaner, ultrasonic or steam cleaner machines.

Gems Pavilion highly recommends having your pearls restrung every six months – one years or when the silk becomes worn or dirty.
